Style with (social) substance

In the Fox Cities, a large number of individuals and families live one paycheck away from facing economic hardship and even homelessness. St. Vincent de Paul Appleton makes sure that people can come to our store with clothing vouchers so they can maintain a sense of dignity and resiliency. With the right clothes, we all feel more secure and comfortable at work, at school, and doing all of the things that make us successful.

To raise money for our Voucher Program, I decided to give myself two challenges:

(1) a shopping challenge, and
(2) a fundraising challenge.

Since proceeds from the store go back into our programming, the $50 I'm using for clothes will have an impact. Plus, showing others the outfits I find should encourage them to check out the store.

The clothes in the picture cost $27, so I'll be able to pick up a few more things when it starts to get cooler. I'm using the hashtags #thrifty50, #thriftstorefinds, and #svdpappleton on instagram. Add your own pictures there.

I'm also matching my shopping spree with a $50 donation.

$50 is enough to give people access to clothing that matches the lives they want to live. I hope people will join in fashion or fundraising--or both.
